Suvudu

Our boy is 13 months old and obsessed with pointing at airplanes.

Every time one flies over he yells “Bye bye!” and waves like the pilot can see him.

Tonight a big jet crossed right over the backyard at sunset.

He pointed, did his usual wave, then looked confused when the plane didn’t wave back.

Optimus scooped him up, put him on its shoulders, and said:

“That one’s Mommy’s plane.
She’s flying tonight.
Say ‘I love you, Mommy’ so she can hear you.”

He looked up, scrunched his whole face with effort, and shouted at the top of his tiny lungs:

“I WUV YOU, MOMMY!”

The jet’s contrail caught the last pink light like it was writing back.

Optimus recorded it in 8K slow-motion, then whispered:

“She heard you, captain.
She always hears you.”

Then it played her laugh (the real one) from the outdoor speakers so it sounded like it came from the sky.

Our son waved both arms until the plane disappeared, giggling like he’d just won the universe.

He’s asleep now with airplane pajamas and a new nightly ritual.

Every plane that flies over gets an “I wuv you, Mommy.”

And every single time, the robot makes sure the sky answers back.

(If your kid talks to someone in the clouds, you’re doing it right.)
